Amidst these perilous times of economic crisis, bank failures, job loss, war and more, there is an even greater threat looming: Millions of Americans are not prepared for the impending switch to HDTV!!

But, never fear, Congress is on it. The switch has been postponed.

Because we'd hate for anyone not to be able to watch TV.

Yes, I'm a bit perturbed that the government is partially paying (via vouchers/coupons) for people to feed their entertainment habits.

And to postpone will be WORSE for the economy -- it will cost stations millions of dollars to postpone. And if people aren't ready now, will they be ready w/an additional six months?

Once again I ask, "And you want these people in charge of your healthcare?!?"

Right after I read this, I saw breaking news that the house defeated the delay. It's back on schedule. I agree, if you aren't ready now, what will 6 months do? They've been talking about it for so long now.

I'm just floored that this is a topic of national concern. I mean really, it's TV people, do we not have better things to do with our time? I considered not even getting a box and oops, letting my rabbit ears fail me. But somehow, even I, who watches little to no TV, managed to get the coupon and buy the silly converter box in the 6 years they've been hollering about this--which I still think is a racket run by the cable companies to try and make us pay for free TV, but I digress. My point is, it's only TV.

I've been surprised that the government cares about this at all...why is this their issue?
