Dirty

I was making Ethan a sandwich and asked him "Ham or Turkey?" and he gave me that four-year-old inquisitive look and asked "Mom, what's Hammer Turkey?" I believe he was rather excited at the possibility of eating something involving a hammer.

On a similar thread, we've been watching a video of Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe" that I picked up at the library. Ethan, forever fascinated by how things work, is enthralled. So much so that tonight as the missionaries were leaving after dinner he says "Mom, can I watch that dirty movie again before I go to bed?"

Hilarious! It's a good thing your writing these cute things down! I would have loved to have seen the missionaries facial expression after Ethan said that...:)

So funny, we had an opposite experience, when Ella was 2 1/2 she and eddie were together outside and he came in very frustrated wanting to know where she learned the word "Retard." She had just told him several times that he was her retard.
Since I hadn't been using that word and couldn't think of any of her kids shows that would, I just brought her in, sat her down and had a talk aabout how some words were ugly and we didn't want to use those words, especially because they hurt people. She was sad and apologetic and gave him a big hug and we went about our day. hours later she asked me "Mommy, why weetart a bad word?" and then it hit me,
"Sweetheart is not a bad word!"
Eddie had to apologize to her and after a little linguistics coaching it became her favorite expression for him.
